Angela & Edward

Angela KuangAngela Kuang is from Mainland China and had been working in the states for many years as an accountant when her employer went out of business.  Instead of looking for another full-time job, she decided to launch her own accounting practice after attending one of Universal’s FREE Start Today Seminars.  While unsure what to expect, the seminar changed the course of her career.  She says, “During the seminar, I learned about pricing and how to attract clients. So I thought I’d give it a try.”

First she enrolled in the Professional Bookkeeper program. Upon completion she launched her practice, One Solution, in Castro Valley, California.  She explains, “I started with zero clients. By the end of 2013, I was managing books for ten clients…not including my own and my husband’s.”  She then went on to complete the Universal Practice Builder program as well.

Angela found that her confidence increased as her client roster did, which benefited greatly from client referrals.  This isn’t surprising considering the fact that her favorite aspect of running her own practice is communicating with current and prospective clients.

Edward MwelwaEdward Mwelwa, from Zambia South Africa, also found success after completing all of the UAC’s Accountrepreneur courses: the Professional Bookkeeper™ (PB)Professional Bookkeeper™’s Guide (PBG) to QuickBooks, and Universal Practice Builder (UPB) programs. He explained, “The UAC package which offers both professional (practical and real life) training coupled with the UPB Program was the most ideal.”

Edward has since earned the Professional Bookkeeper™ and  designations and provides tax preparation services for more than 50 individual clients! He says, “Having recently expanded our services to include bookkeeping, my goal is to have between 10-20 small-business clients by the end of the year.” And seeing what Edward has accomplished thus far, there’s no doubt that he’ll also see the accomplishment of that dream in the near future.
Edward continues to enjoy benefits from his Universal training. He explains, “Having this real life and practical understanding of bookkeeping is a huge benefit I cannot understate. This has made it much easier for me to understand and resolve difficult bookkeeping entries using QuickBooks software.” He also appreciates “the fact that the program still provides resources I can fall back on to resolve challenging accounting problems.”

Edward has worked tirelessly to achieve his dream. His advice to other Universal students is to remember “bookkeeping is a business of trust and whether you are studying to get employed or set up a practice, you have to work diligently and be a willing learner to succeed.”  Angela also encourages those interested to “just do it!”
